What Abhimanyu brings to the table
Abhimanyu Phadke is an Associate with the Payments team at Spice Route Legal.
With a specialised focus on the payments ecosystem, Abhimanyu works closely with payment aggregators, prepaid payment instrument (PPI) issuers, and card network participants. He has been instrumental in the structuring, regulatory navigation, and launch of several leading payment products in the Indian market.
Abhimanyu also advises on the deployment of artificial intelligence in financial services, particularly in relation to risk mitigation, fraud monitoring, and enhancing customer experience in the payments value chain. His client base includes some of the most prominent players in this rapidly evolving and highly regulated space.
Representative matters:
- Assisted India’s leading fintech players in structuring a host of payment and other financial offerings including ‘buy now pay later’, co-branded credit cards, issuance of loyalty rewards, tokenisation services amongst others.
- Advised multiple co-branding partners on the offering of co-branded cards and partnerships with card issuers (including PPI Issuers) and merchants.
- Advised the world’s largest agricultural products company in entering into an agreement with India’s leading payment gateway for structuring the fund movement.
- Assisted one of India’s largest ‘instant loan’ platforms with structuring, reviewing and negotiating third-party application provider agreements.
- Advised a currency exchange company on queries regarding their prepaid instrument products on their portfolio.
